The data behind the names

A number without a place, period and source is not useful context.

Bundled U.S. popularity data

The catalogue includes U.S. Social Security Administration statistics titled Top names of the period 2020–2025, retrieved 2026-10-13. There are 200 names in each of two source categories and 397 distinct spellings. The data covers 2020–2025 together—not one year and not the world.

The source table describes a universe of 11,136,649 boy births and 10,652,963 girl births. Missing from a top-200 table does not imply zero use. Different spellings remain separate. Read the SSA background and limitations.

Expanded international spelling lists

The expanded catalogue contains 30186 unique spellings. The additional dataset is extracted from static first-name lists in Faker 40.1.2 person providers, an MIT-licensed open-source synthetic-data library. The original source locale is retained for every imported entry, and the licence is bundled with the project.

These are source-list spellings for inspiration, not a civil registry, verified cultural-name dictionary or global popularity database. We do not infer meanings, ancestry, nationality or real-world suitability from provider membership. Some entries may be rare, archaic or context-dependent. Confirm a shortlist with knowledgeable speakers and reliable references. New entries are excluded from search indexing until substantive sourced information is added.

International discovery selections

The combined catalogue currently has 30186 distinct spellings. International additions are editorial starting sets. We do not fabricate local ranks, usage counts or meanings. Country presets suggest one or more browsing languages, not every language spoken in a country.

Language and category labels are discovery aids and not verified demographic data. Related accented spellings have separate identifiers. Linked dictionary lookups help further investigation but do not mean every editorial label has been independently verified.

Meaning and origin notes

Only a small selection has linked word-root or etymology notes. The original summaries identify the underlying dictionary source. A Latin word association, for example, does not prove that every use of the name shares one history. Pronunciation and original-script forms should be checked with knowledgeable speakers.

Pet-name inspiration

The separate library contains 591 original editorial suggestions across 18 animal categories. Tags such as cute, food-inspired and cosmic are editorial styles, not survey results or care advice. Pet suggestions are not counted toward the human-name total.

Fictional games

The 59 new entertainment pages use original local result pools or transparent word-combination routines. A crush name is not an identified person. Wedding ages and careers are fictional. The death-themed page contains impossible cartoon endings only, with no real death methods, dates or lifespan claims. Style quizzes are not psychological assessments.

Calculators

Date tools state their Gregorian-calendar methods, endpoint conventions and treatment of leap days. Love, friendship and numerology tools are entertainment with inspectable algorithms, not assessments or predictions.

Corrections and updates

The operator can update sourced name notes through the protected management API. A source and substantive note are required before thin international entries can be made indexable. The optional import script can add annual SSA data; importing requires review and does not silently change the period shown in the interface.

Accounts, shortlists, polls and the name studio never load ad code, and nothing you type into a game or calculator is sent to Google. Bonus Lounge packs may offer an optional rewarded ad.
