How to play Code Breaker

1. Tap four colours to make a guess, then tap Check.
2. ● counts colours in the right place, ○ counts right colours in the wrong place.
3. Use the clues to crack the code within 10 guesses.

The rules in detail

The secret code has 4 pegs made from 6 colours, and colours can repeat, so there are 1,296 possible codes. After each guess, ● counts pegs that are the right colour in the right place and ○ counts pegs that are the right colour in the wrong place (each peg is counted once). You have 10 guesses; your best is the fewest guesses you have needed. Any code can be solved in 5 guesses with perfect play. You can also type 1 to 6 for colours, Backspace to undo and Enter to check.

Tips

• Start with two colours, like Red Red Blue Blue, to learn about two colours at once.
• Keep a mental list of colours that are definitely not in the code.
• If you get ○ only, every one of those colours is in a different spot from where you put it.
