HOW SCORING WORKS
The rules in detail
Each guess must be a real five-letter word from a list of about 4,500 English words (taken from the SCOWL word lists). Repeated letters are scored the classic way: if a letter appears once in the answer, only one of your copies is marked. The daily word is the same for everyone and changes at midnight UTC; answers are picked from about 690 common, family-friendly words, so it repeats only after many months. Your daily guesses and winning streak are kept on this device. Copy result shares the coloured squares without any letters.
Tips
Start with a word that uses common letters, like STARE, CRANE or SLATE.
Use your second guess to test five new letters instead of repeating yellow ones.
Remember letters can repeat: if you are stuck, try a double letter.
